Los Cabos
Two small and very different towns known as "the capes," or Los Cabos : San Jose del Cabo to the northeast and Cabo San Lucas punctuated by "El Arco", at the southern tip of the magnificent Baja Peninsula -- bracket a twenty-mile seacoast ‘Corridor’, home to a range of elegant hotels, a half dozen new championship golf courses and some of Baja's most beautiful beaches.

Whales in Los Cabos Los Cabos is one of Mexico’s most beautiful and exclusive destinations, unique in its striking desert landscape, backed by vermilion mountains, and bordered by miles of white sandy beach and clear, azure waters.

Los Cabos unites together the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortes (also called the Gulf of California), indeed Cabo San Lucas is best identified by the image of the world famous rock arch formation "El Arco" where the Pacific meets the warm water of the Sea of Cortes. . UNESCO declared 244 islands and protected areas of the Sea of Cortez a World Heritage Site.

Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo and Los Cabos Corridor
Blessed with a perfect climate with an average year-round temperature of 78 degrees, Los Cabos has become a world-class destination resort offering elegant accommodations, reknowned championship golf courses, spectacular sportfishing, diving, a full-service marina with great restaurants and a legendary nightlife.

San Jose del Cabo
Picturesque and historic San Jose del Cabo still looks like the 18th Century mission town it once was. San Jose del Cabo is a pleasant city of meandering streets and lush palm groves, a handsome Municipal Palace, charming courtyard res-taurants, shops, boutiques, and a lovely tropical estuary.

The atmosphere here is subdued compared with the more rowdy town of Cabo San Lucas. It appeals to a more mature audience, while Cabo San Lucas attracts more singles and young couples.

Cabo San Lucas
Cabo San Lucas, where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortes (home to world-class Marlin fishing) at a natural stone arch, jumps around the clock with shops, restaurants and nightclubs, the Marina and the mariachis. Approaching by air across the Sea of Cortés (which separates the Baja from the rest of Mexico) the visitor first sees contrast: the craggy peaks of the Sierra de la Laguna form a backdrop to miles of golden beach, blue water and dramatic red rock formations; saguaro cactus, palms and cultivated gardens cover the pale gold desert landscape.

In both towns, and all along the highway between them, are places to stay that suit any style and fit most budgets.

The corridor
Between the towns lies the Resort Corridor, a 33-kilometer highway, the site of major resort development and some of Baja's most beautiful beaches.

The Corridor awards the traveler with dramatic views and a complete complement of activities to suit any taste. Along the highway, you’ll find world-class hotels with top-notch restaurants, which have been known to lure a fair share of celebrities.

Los Cabos activities and sidetrips:
A variety of watersports are popular in the area. Sport fishing is popular because of the marlin (black, blue and striped), sailfish, swordfish, mahi mahi and yellowtail. The area is well know to SCUBA divers for its sand falls and the colonies of black coral and other marine fauna that inhabit the waters. Beaches such as Love, Medano and Hacienda in Cabo San Lucas, and the long beach called Costa Azul in San Jose del Cabo are havens for swimming, snorkeling, sailing and surfing.

A tour of the surrounding area takes you to other interesting places such as the famous arch of Cabo San Lucas, the unique place where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortes meet. Also see the San Jose del Cabo estuary, an ecologic paradise with a variety of vegetation and the habitat of many species of tropical birds. Cabo Pulmo offers its coral reefs, unique in this latitude. Also worth a visit are Los Frailes Beach , the Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere Reserve, the towns of Miraflores, with its leather arts, and Santiago with its zoo and museum of giant fossils. Other attractions include the church of the mission of San Jose del Cabo, the culture house, the Municipal Palace, the art garden, the blown glass factory, the old lighthouse monument built in 1890, the Cerro del Vigia and a variety of shops, jewelry stores and art stores.

During the winter In Los Cabos you can admire one of the most beautiful natural phenomena to occur on Mexico’s coasts: the courtship, mating and birth process of the gray whale. During peak summer months, Magdalena Bay is perfect for scuba diving, kayaking, sportfishing, also to enjoy a romantic getaway on a pristine beach as you gaze out onto El Arco, a rocky arch formation is considered a landmark of this destination.

For years Cabo has been a remote playground for private yacht owners. Sportfishermen flocked here to be near "Marlin Alley," as Cabo San Lucas became recognized as the undisputed billfish capital of the world.

Today, Los Cabos has something for everyone to enjoy, a vast playground encompassing the jagged peaks of the Sierra La Laguna and the Pacific Ocean where it meets the warm, azure waters of the Sea of Cortes.
